For our 10 year anniversary, Infinity Moving set a goal for 2015 to plant 100 trees in Austin and the surrounding areas as a way to give back and say thank you to our local community.  We’re happy to announce we actually exceeded that goal in one day!  On January 24th the owners of Infinity Moving, Ben and Rachel Ragland, met the TreeFolks organization out in Bastrop to help them plant seedlings on land that was affected by the 2011 Bastrop Complex Fire.  Over 80 volunteers bundled up on a cold chilly morning to help plant over 4,000 loblolly pine seedlings with Ben and Rachel planting 115 of them.  One of the volunteers had a drone that took aerial footage of the project.  Check it out here.

The fire burned over 34,000 acres, about 1650 homes, 40 commercial buildings and claimed 2 lives.  Bastrop State Park has only 50-100 acres out of 5,926 that were left undamaged by the wildfire.  According to TreeFolks, “thousands of privately-owned properties were classified as severely burned, meaning that significant regeneration of loblolly pines on the property was unlikely to occur under natural conditions.  In response, the Texas A&M Forest Service and Bastrop County, along with the Lost Pines Recovery Team, asked TreeFolks to develop a program to reforest private property affected by the fire, embarking on a 5 year campaign to plant more than 2 million loblolly pine trees on privately-owned land in Bastrop County.”  TreeFolks will be celebrating it’s 1,000,00th tree planting in February and is already well on it’s way towards it’s final goal of 2,000,000.

Infinity Moving was proud to support time and effort towards this cause and looks forward to fall when planting trees is ideal and TreeFolks will resume their seedling operations in Bastrop again.  In the meantime we have plans to assist the Austin Parks Foundation with tree plantings and clean ups so please like us on Facebook to see where we’ll be if you want to join us or spread the word about our endeavors.
